The New Windows Phone 8

If you’re planning on getting a Windows Phone you might want to hold off for a while. Shortly after Microsoft launched its Surface tablet, it yesterday unveiled Windows Phone 8 (WP8) which is quite different from Windows Phone 7.5 as it will now support memory expansion (finally), Internet Explorer 10, NFC among other features.

Sadly, Microsoft has said there’s not going to be an update to version 8 for existing Windows  Phones running version 7.5 a.k.a Mango as the hardware meant for both OS are radically different.

However, if you already have one, Microsoft did state that phones running version 7.5 of the Windows Phone OS  will be getting a bump to version 7.8 which will bring some of the new features on WP8 such as the new Start Screen to current owners.
