Think Big, Start Small and See it grow.

Entrepreneurship is the quality of being an entrepreneur i.e. an individual who organises and operates a business or businesses, taking on financial risk to do so. An entrepreneur is an agent of change.

Businesses such as Samsung, Toyota, Ford, Coca Cola, Dodge, Cadillac and a host of others started out as an entrepreneurship business.

They started small, had lofty ideas which guided them in the path of growing their business into a household name today.

The problem with most of us today is that we spend so much time celebrating our obstacles rather than taking the FIRST step towards removing those obstacles. Take for instance, you want to learn how to drive, the first step is to gain access into the car by opening the door of the car. Once you are in, you have solved one of the many problems that hinders you from learning to drive. This is exactly how we need to see bringing our business ideas to life.

Furthermore, we worry about not having enough capital, not having the right connection………… and the list goes on. The truth is START WITH THE LITTLE THAT YOU HAVE!

To overcome the obstacles of not having enough capital or means, we recommend the following:

  • creating a website

For as little as $50 or N2500 depending on the web host you want to use, you can give your new business online presence. To start the process, you need to have the following:

*a name in mind e.g. http://www.ring2buyng.co;

*an alternate name should the desired name be unavailable;

*a credit/debit card (other means of payment);

*decide on the type of domain e.g. .com, .us, .ca etc. For more information visit Wikipedia;

*Search engine company Google (in partnership with Godaddy and some other web hosting companies) has a platform called the Google App where you can get affordable web hosting plan and other online solution. Other examples of web hosting companies includes whogohost, Hostgator or Siteground. Please be very careful when choosing your desired plan.

*most important factors to consider are domain name, disk space and bandwidth allowance when choosing you desired plan.

You can also get a free hosting from several hosting company such as WordPress (or simply google free hosting). Kindly note that  such free host offers are usually advertisement-supported.

  • using social media

Create an account for your new company on any of the social media platform e.g. Facebook Page, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to mention a few. Promote your business, interact with your customer by attending to their questions and resolve some of the problems they are encountering with your product or services. Most established companies and upcoming ones have either a Twitter, Facebook, Instagram account.

  • using digital media channels

Create an account on Youtube and upload videos about your business or service. Youtube gives visitors the opportunity to either like or dislike your video uploads, comment on the content or your services.

  • Don’t be afraid to fail

The main reason you should not have a fear of failure, because many failures led to success. Inventors such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin and many more failed several times before they eventually got it right. So don’t be afraid to fail but learn from your mistakes. (see 50 famously successful people who failed at first)

  • Plan and research your online presence so that you choose an option that is useful and targeted to your business product.

Read about other successful start up stories from the internet. Explore their worlds and see what you can adopt from their stories. Remember what worked for GidiTraffic might not work for you.

To stand out from the growing number of online businesses, you’ll need to find a way to make yours unique. Even if your product or service isn’t a one-off, try to think of an approach that will make it stand out. This could be a custom-designed website, or the way your goods are delivered.

The goal of your online presence is to make your business accessible to customers over the internet. This means your website, or store, needs to be easy-to-use and appropriate for your customers, with a service-delivery focus.

So, if you’re not familiar with web development or design, think about employing someone who is or better still try Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress or Joomla which is very simple to use.

Remember you control whatever it is that affects you. So take the FIRST step and see how easy the other steps would be.

We wish you the very best in your endeavours.
