BlackBerry Q10

q10

Chances are that a number of you have either purchased or had some hands-on experience with BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry’s latest device running the conveniently named OS; BlackBerry 10.  While you’re still catching your breath with the departure from what you been used to (the physical  keyboard and OS) for so long, the follow-up – Q10, is soon to  hit our shores (or stores) to address your tactile cravings.

Of course, you can always pre-order from online stores or have some benevolent relative or friend send it to you if you’ll rather have it sooner than later. But, we recommend waiting as prices will fall…they always do. Look at the Z10 now, its well under N94,000.00!

To help you make up your mind on whether to go with the full touch screen on the Z10 or keyboard and touch screen with the Q10 (similar to your Bolds, Curves…) here’s an incisive review to help you decide.

BBM Voice (UPDATE!!!)

While its gearing up for the January 2013 release of the BlackBerry 10 OS, RIM has released something to whet the taste buds of its customers. The ubiquitous mobile messaging service; BBM, has hit version 7 which means it will come with some improvement (or maybe just a security patch)

The more interesting news is that BlackBerry users will now be able to make voice calls over a Wi-Fi network through BBM…for free! Now you can LOL for real 😀 (more…)

Visafone Announce BlackBerry

Yes, you read it right. Visafone the CDMA operator has announced that  the popular RIM device; BlackBerry (and its ubiquitous BBM service) is now available on its network. This makes them the first CDMA operator to do so. While Visafone indicated that three devices will be available for purchase, no details were given on the particular devices.

The company has said the device/service  becomes operational in November but customers can pre-order from Monday, October 29.

Now you can tether too…wirelessly

If you own any of these BlackBerry phones: Bold 9790/9900/9930, Curve 9350/9360/9370/9380/9220/9320, and Torch 9810/9850/9860, then you’ll be able to make your phone a wireless hotspot. But first, you’ll have to update to OS 7.1 which varies in size from 50MB to slightly over 70MB (on both devices I’ve updated). But you’ll have to download the update via a wi-fi connection with a (preferably) fully charged battery…and may be get some tea and crumpets 🙂 (more…)

Quick Tips

Are you having problems viewing  BBM display pictures and status images of  your friends (or is it peeps)?  Fear not,  it’s not a virus or malicious software. You’ll just have to make sure your time zone (not just your time) setting matches your location.  You don’t have to “flash” or reboot your device.

You can do this from the clock setting. Make sure your time zone (Nigeria in this case is set to W. Central Africa (+1) then save. (more…)
